Image result for Nick foles

One of the reasons the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year is that Nick Foles proved excellent at avoiding the pass rush: In the Super Bowl he threw 43 passes and was never sacked. That came after an NFC Championship Game in which he threw 33 passes and was only sacked once, and a divisional round game in which he threw 30 passes and was only sacked once.

It would be tempting to credit the Eagles’ offensive line for that, but it would also be wrong. Because Carson Wentz, playing behind the same offensive line last season, was sacked far more often: Wentz took 28 sacks in 13 games.

So the draft came and went, and Odell Beckham Jr. is still a Giant.

Dave Gettleman didn’t quit on talent after all.

Between now and the opening of training camp, the Giants should build on the momentum of good vibes and engage in serious negotiations with the Beckham camp and reach a deal that will make him the highest-paid receiver in football: three years, $54-57 million or five years, $90-95 million. Something along those lines.

Yes, pay the man.

It appears that Beckham has begun to play ball with the new regime, can’t wait to play ball with his new fast friend/“little brudda” Saquon Barkley and form a younger Killer Bs tandem than Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell.

No one is interested in the distraction of a training-camp holdout that would mar the beginning of the Pat Shurmur era.

Beckham and Shurmur have the beginnings of a relationship forged on honesty and mutual respect, and there are encouraging signs John Mara’s loud message that no one is untouchable in the wake of Beckham’s latest behavioral foible in Paris seems to have been received.

Of course, with so many millions on the line, why the hell wouldn’t it be?

It appears to be the end of the road once again for former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Cutler is expected to retire soon. Rapoport notes Cutler will be appearing on wife Kristin Cavallari’s reality show. He also did not rule out Cutler going into the broadcast booth with FOX, something he was expected to do last year before an opportunity to join the Miami Dolphins arose. He was set to be part of the network’s No. 2 team along with Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis on NFL

All of those hoping to hear Cutler talk about his former team had their dreams dashed when an injury occurred to Miami Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Tannehill during the summer. Dolphins head coach Adam Gase worked with Cutler in 2015 in Chicago and called upon his former QB for some help. On August 3, Cutler signed with the Dolphins, casting aside his television booth dreams. He signed a one-year deal and was named the team’s starter for Week 1. In 14 starts for the Dolphins he completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,666 yards with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. As a starter he went 6-8.

The 11th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft out of Vanderbilt by the Broncos, Cutler showed signs of improvement in each of his first handful of seasons in the league. As a rookie in 2006 he started five games, throwing for 1,001 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. The following year he took over as the team’s starter and threw for 3,497 yards with 20 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. In his Pro Bowl year with the Broncos in 2008, Cutler once again started all 16 games, throwing for 4,526 yards with 25 touchdowns and 18 interceptions
